The kids and I arrived in Interlaken on Friday afternoon. After departing the train, we explored the adorable little town for awhile, stopping at a wooden toy store recommended by Alton and Shannon. Once inside, Jack named off every toy that Alton and Shannon have (and insisted of course on playing with each one of them!). We purchased a starter-farm set for Kate, and a wooden ball game for Jack.
Afterwards, we went over to our beautiful hotel to check in while Jay finished his meetings. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, and our room had a breathtaking view of Jungfrau (picture included) from our balcony. We also discovered that the Jungfrau Marathon was taking place that weekend. On Friday, they had a mini-kids marathon, so the kids and I set off to explore the jumpy machines, treadmills (Jack insisted on trying them out) and the giant slide. Soon after, Jay met us there and we hit the town all together. We found a great Swiss restaurant right next to a life-size chess game, and the kids were thrilled to be able to play before and after eating.
After putting everyone to bed, Jay and I enjoyed a bottle of wine and a chocolate bar on our balcony while watching the sunset. We also had the thrill of watching paragliders land right in front of our room, which was fun to watch.
