Gondola Rides and Ski Lodges

OK, so maybe I didn't actually ski (or even rent ski equipment), but that's not to say that I didn't have a chance to savor my favorite parts of any ski vacation... gondola rides, beautiful vistas, hot chocolate in the ski lodges, and the apres ski relaxation.

We went up to the top of the mountain twice - the first time we were caught in a blizzard, but the second time we had unbelievably clear skies - and the beautiful vistas captured here. It was also fun for Jack & Kate to see the "advanced" skiers and know what happens once they graduate from the bunny hill.

The views from the top of the mountain were breathtaking - Jack was busy trying to find Switzerland, but to no luck. He then busied himself with rolling down the hill and making snow angels on top of the world.

On the day that we left, Jack cried when he realized we were leaving "his hotel." And Katie cried when we drove into our driveway, saying, "I want to go to the hotel." All in all, it was a perfect vacation - even the ride home was much smoother - 6 hours (compared with 9) and we happily watched all the Swiss vacationers (now on the start of their ski holiday) drive in the opposite direction. We arrived back to beautiful winter weather in Zurich (sunny skies and low 40's), so we've been taking advantage of the warm weather by hitting the parks and the lake once again.
