While home, we had a reunion with the entire Klus family - it was so good to see all of our aunts, uncles and cousins - and it was the first time we had been out to the shack since Grampa had passed away 3 years ago.
We arrived in time to see the Polish Heritage Festival parade - and all the candy! Jack was so busy picking up all the candy (egged on by his aunts and mother, who made him get our candy, as we felt guilty pushing all of the other local kids out of the way) that he stopped midway through the parade and declared, "I'm done, Mommy," and proceeded to sit down with his loot. Very disappointing for a candy-obsessed mother!
We then headed out to the shack for the reunion - Bob and Christy made a wonderful pig roast (Jack and Kate's first), and we had a great day playing Baggo, fishing, rolling down the hill, doing chin-ups, and exploring "my Bapa's" (Grampa Klus) shack.
After the day was over, we headed back to Bob and Christy's beautiful home, where we were treated to a night of luxury... all of the Nelson girls slept there and appreciated all of the incredible hospitality that the family extended to us - and our 4 munchkins!
The next morning, we had brunch out at the shack and then hit the road during the early afternoon... while it was craziness trying to catch up with everyone (while chasing little ones) we all had a great time and are so grateful for the opportunity to see all of our extended family.
