We had a fun week here. Jay and I managed to sign up for two separate wine tasting events - in the same week. The first one focused on Swiss wines and Swiss foods, and the second one focused on comparing European wines to wines from the rest of the world. Both were fun events - and we even learned a few things as well. In between the wine tasting sessions, we hosted a dinner party for a few of the parents from Jack and Kate's school. So it was a big week for these two social recluses. :)
Jack and Kate have really started to get into dressing up as kings, knights, and princesses, so we decided to take them to a real castle on Sunday morning. They loved the visit and were only disappointed once - when they learned that there were no king or queen to see.
We went to Schloss Lenzburg, which is about 45 minutes away, and was built nearly a thousand years ago. The castle had a great outdoor playground (with miniature houses built like a village), a real drawbridge, and a wonderful children's museum, where the kids could make their own crowns, swords, and dress up like real royalty.
The kids loved it - and Jack has now decided he wants to be a knight when he grows up. (Far more exciting than a "strategic consultant" or a "financial management" he has decided). Although tonight he asked me if he could still drive a car to work as a knight - or whether he'd have to take a horse each day... so maybe he'll get excited by our career paths someday. :)
