On Friday, the Klus family came for a visit. Aunty Geri, Bev, Kathy and all the kids drove up in one car (9 people in total!) and came for the weekend - we were lucky enough to have visits form them on both Friday and Saturday... It was really fun to see how big the "big cousins" have gotten, although they appeared to still be interested in the same toys - the big kids loved riding the plasma cars down the hill as fast as they could, and the little ones loved chasing after them. Kate quickly found another "victim" (I mean, customer) in Aunty Geri, and quarantined her to her restaurant where she harrassed (I mean, waited on her hand and foot).
Then on Saturday, Aunty Lill and MaryEllen drove over from Marinette. It was really fun to catch up with them and hear all sorts of funny stories from MaryEllen. And on Tuesday, Aunty Kathy and Christy came over from Armstrong Creek. With us being so far away - and our time together so short - it was really nice of all the aunts and the cousins to drive over to visit us. It meant a lot to see them all - and it was also a nice treat not to have to strap our kids in the car for any more traveling (not sure Ami and Bapa's car could handle any more visits from the "vomit comet.")
In between the visits, we had great happy hours (probably my children's favorite time of the day) and fun dinners at home. Then on Saturday night, Annie, Matt and my parents went to Horseshoe Bay for a dinner to celebrate the Member-Guest tournament, and Susan and I "assembly-lined" all 4 kids to bed - and then had a quiet evening to catch up, which was really nice.
On Sunday, the adults ventured out with our nuclear family (just my parents, my sisters and me) to the Whistling Swan on Sunday night. It was Susan's half birthday, so another fun excuse to celebrate - and to remember her half-birthday parties we used to have. We had two college-aged neighbor girls come to babysit, and it was fun to hear about their summer plans in Door County - reminded us all of those wonderful, lazy summers.
