Italy - Arrival!

On Saturday, we woke the kids up early and we were on the road by 5:30am - on our way to Italy. We were thrilled to make it through St. Gottard's tunnel without any traffic - and even more happy to make it all the way to Tuscany without Kate getting sick AT ALL. This was by far the longest trip she'd ever made without getting sick, so that was a major milestone. The traffic was pretty brutal, so the trip ended up taking 11 hours, and we were all relieved to arrive at our "home" for the next week.

We arrived to find Oma, Papa and the Ferris family already there, getting settled into the beautiful villa. The home we rented turned out to be absolutely perfect - really spacious, with room for everyone to have their own quiet spots, a gorgeous pool and lawn, and wonderful pool house with outside dining - where we spent many an hour. We had a fabulous dinner outside under the loggia on Saturday night, and quickly decided that would be our routine for the rest of the week.

The kids had a great evening of swimming, and went right from swimsuits to pajamas - exhausted from their big day.
