On Sunday, we took the Ferris family to Luzern for the day. We were blessed with incredible weather - clear blue skies and a beautiful, warm day. We arrived and spent some time walking around the Old Town - across the wooden bridge, through the market squares, and along the river. Jared bought his Swiss souvenir on the bridge - a genuine Swiss Army Knife.
Afterwards, we gave the gang a chance to rest their feet with lunch in our favorite amphitheater (I wonder if the next performers noticed all the hot dog crumbs left behind?).
We walked along the promenade to a great park at the end, where all had a fun time (including the dads) trying out the rope-a-whirl (my own name - not sure what else to call it) that is prominent in nearly every park here. With four kids in tow, there's bound to be a tragedy every day - and today was poor Samantha's turn... she had a few bloody noses throughout the day, and one bad fall.. but managed to keep moving on with the group.
After a break for Movenpick ice cream, we headed out on a boat ride, which was absolutely spectacular. It doesn't matter how often we come back to this place - I'm convinced it might be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
That night, we came home for a "quiet" evening - but apparently Jay didn't get the same memo. He took the three big kids out to the yard (along with Chopper) for the opening ceremonies of Sports Camp 2008. After an hour outside of running, sprinting, tackling and sweating, all came inside with 8 red cheeks - but all ready for dinner! Most everyone was down for the count early that night, which gave the adults a chance to take a much-needed break as well.
